Rema walks off stage at Atlanta show over what he described as a disrespect to Afrobeats.

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Rema walks off stage at Atlanta show over what he described as a “disrespect to Afrobeats”.

Rema was supposed to perform at Atlanta on July 27, 2023 as part of his ‘Rave & Roses’ tour. The ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker however, left the thousands of fans waiting for his performance disappointed as he fails to perform.

Rema before leaving the stage made his reasons know to his fans. In a video shared on twitter probably by one of the fans at the show captured what happened before the walk off.

In his short message, Rema thinks his fans deserve a better location for his performance. He also believes what he saw is a “disrespect to Afrobeats” and a disrespect to him as an artist. He added that he will reschedule the show to give his fans the performance they deserve.

Afrobeats is way too big to look like this. I don’t take no rubbish and I respect my fans. I’m going to reschedule this show because they have disrespected me and disrespected Afrobeats by treating you guys like this,”

Though the fans who turned up for the show will be left disappointed, they will however take solace that someone cures about them and is ready to put them first.

Nigerian artist Rema rose to fame with his release of ‘Calm Down’ which eventually earned a remix from Selena Gomez. The artist has since received global recognition and has broken and set new records.

Rema is currently the Nigerian artist with the most monthly Spotify listeners, the most streamed Afrobeats song on Spotify, the most watched Nigerian music video on YouTube, the first Nigerian to top charts in North Africa and the Middle East, and the Nigerian song with the highest charting on the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard.

From his achievements above, it is understandable that the artist will want to be treated as such.
