Byno showcased his vocal dexterity during the 2023 Mentor competition gaining respect and recognition from both judges and audience alike. There was no doubt in the minds of the audience when Byno was announced the winner at the finale of the competition.
Byno is gradually finding his feet in the Ghanaian music industry. The “vocal monster” as he was popularly referred to during the competition is loved by many due to his incredible talent.
However, Byno, did not have it easy growing up. Speaking on the Daybreak Hitz show, the emerging musician reflected on some of his experiences growing up. He narrated how his father walked out on him on the day he was born, and how he lost his mother three months later.
“I didn’t know my father growing up. According to what my grandmom told me, when I was born, the man came to the hospital, saw me, and said, “We don’t have this thing in my family.” So he run away. My mom, out of pain and disappointment, died when I was just three months old,” Byno said.
“So my grandmom took responsibility. At the time, I was a sickly child. I got so sick, according to my grandmom and the people who saw me grow up, that you could see the food travelling down my stomach when I was eating. That is how sick I was,” he added.
According to Byno, the headmaster at his time at Holy Star Academy in Alao gave him an opportunity that has contributed to the person he is today. The headmaster introduced him to brass band where he felt welcomed.
“It was because of him that I fell in love with music very early. He made me join the band, the brass band. I was five years old at the time. And then music started from there,” Byno recounted.
Byno Ayoni is an inspiration and we wish him well in his music career.
