Over the years, a lot of artists have experienced similar behavior from fans as they perform onstage. However, it is fast becoming a trend in recent times as a number of artists have been violated by fans while onstage in the past few weeks.
In a video that was retweeted by Cardi B’s tweeter account, a fan is seen tossing a drink from a cup at the artist as she performs. Cardi B who seem surprised by the act retaliated by throwing her microphone at the fan. She is seen mouthing words to the fan, as the security came in to control the situation.
In some of the incidents that happened to artists while onstage, they just walk off stage to take sometime to adjust themselves. Normally, they do not retaliate in the manner Cardi B reacted.
Kelly Clarkson is an artist that has experienced these fan encounters first had. She told THR, “When your eyes are closed and you’re singing and you’re vulnerable in this space and someone just kind of attacks you like that — that really was not a good experience for me.”
In recent weeks if not months, top artist such as Drake, Billie Eilish, Kelsea Ballerini, Bebe Rexha, Lil Nas X and Ava Max, have experienced different forms of fan encounters while performing onstage.
A fan threw a bracelet at country artist Kelsea Ballerini, who was wounded in the eye, and Bebe Rexha, who was injured after being hit by a cell phone during a show. During the first night of Drake’s It’s All a Blur Tour, a phone was also hurled at his arm, while Lil Nas X had sex toys thrown at him during a headlining performance.
