HBO released two distinct teasers for Season 2, which debuts on June 16. The King’s Landing team, which consists of Alicent, her father Otto, and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond, is the subject of one trailer, while the other concentrates on Rhaenrya, Prince Daemon, and their armies on Dragonstone. Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will officially usher in the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war, which takes place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”
Following the events of the first season finale, in which Aemond kills both Lucerys, Rhaenyra’s son, and his dragon, war looks to be breaking out in Westeros. Dragons and new friends are being gathered by the blacks and greens in preparation for a brutal, death-defying war. Rhaenyra, his half-sister, believes she should inherit the Iron Throne from their late father, and young King Aegon is strengthening his position in King’s Landing. A return to Winterfell, the Starks’ icy mansion under Cregan Stark’s rule in the prequel, is also hinted at in the trailers.
The novel “Fire & Blood” by author George R.R. Martin, which chronicles the history of House Targaryen, served as the inspiration for the fantasy drama series. In the first season, viewers followed Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) as she battled to become King Viserys I’s (Patty Considine) chosen heir and as the Targaryens prepared for battle.
Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), Olivia Cooke (Alecent Hightower), Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Eve Best (Rhaena Targaryen), Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Fabien Frankel (Critiston Cole), and Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon Targaryen) are among the returning cast members.
Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer, Tom Bennett as Ulf, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne are among the new characters entering the series. Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull are the other newcomers. Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham are also in the cast.
HBO’s greatest series premiere in history took place with about 10 million people for the first episode of Season 1. “House of the Dragon” broadcast its 10-episode first season from August 21 to October 23, 2022.
