The trailer for ‘Dead of Night’ a Nigerian horror movie directed by Chiemeka Osuagwu has been released by showmax.

‘Dead of Night’ is a Showmax original which is currently being streamed on their platform. The trailer depicts how the inquisitiveness of three ladies landed them into trouble.

The film, which is set in the small community of Ekeoba, follows three young girls as they attempt to plunder an abandoned house: Chinaza, Onyi, and Ihuoma.

However, when they discover they are stuck in the house and that it may be haunted by enigmatic forces, things take a horrifying turn. They had to make their way through a terrifying maze in order to avoid Onwu, the evil force out to get their souls.

With its chilling setting and heart-pounding suspense, Dead of Night promises a gripping narrative that explores the depths of fear and superstitions.

The horror movie stars Kunle Idowu, popularly known as Frank Donga, who has been nominated for three AMVCAs (Best Actor in a Comedy in 2015 and 2023, and Best Supporting Actor in 2018), and has featured in Nollywood top grossing movies Wedding Party 1 and  2. The movie also stars Eric Obinna (Inside Life, Razz Guy), Allison Precious and Chuks Joseph (The Origin: Madam Koi-Koi).

“We wanted to delve into the rich tapestry of Nigerian folklore and superstition, while also delivering a spine-chilling horror experience,” said Femi D Ogunsanwo, the movie’s executive producer.

“This movie explores themes of fear, guilt, greed, and redemption, all within the context of a gripping supernatural thriller. I’m excited for audiences to immerse themselves in this dark world we’ve created,” he added.

Dead of Night is Showmax’s first Nigerian horror movie and it is now available to stream.
