Combs is seen in the video with a towel around his waits brutally beating former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. In the video Combs is seen pushing Cassie on the floor and then kicking her.
A few months ago, Cassie sued Combs accusing him of physical and sexual abuse. But the case was later withdrawn from the court, after the two reached an out-of-court settlement agreement.
The 2016 surveillance video released by CNN appears to confirm the accusations levied against Combs by Cassie. Cassie mentioned how she got a black eye after receiving a punch from Combs as one of the accusations.
Legal professionals had previously warned that Combs might potentially run into issues with Ventura’s resolved case. Even though they most likely signed a nondisclosure agreement as part of the settlement, prosecutors might still request evidence from the case. This shameful footage damages his reputation and adds to the growing body of evidence against him.
“This video is very damaging to his case,” said Parker. “This is gonna hurt him badly because it adds credence to what Ms. Ventura has been alleging about the abuse from him.”
Parker also mentioned that the video could accelerate the government’s case against Combs. “Everybody’s gonna see this, and they’re gonna see what a real dirtbag he is. The public itself is gonna see him in a different light. The government now is likely gonna speed up his case.”
