The Office of the Registrar acknowledged the postponement and notified stakeholders and students of the decision, which has an impact on the whole academic community, in a statement released on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The institution made it clear that special programs will go on as scheduled even though the strike is still in effect.
The reason for the postponement is the result of unresolved issues between the government and major labor organizations, such as the Federation of University Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG), the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU).
These unions have been demanding better working conditions for a long time, hence the ongoing strike.
Their worries include a wide range of issues, including unpaid car maintenance benefits, delayed pension contributions, and the suspension of some agreed-upon benefits.
