Two Nigerian Actors Land Roles in the Prequel to “The Lion King” (Mufasa) by Disney.

The Nigerian Film Industry has received a huge recognition after two actors landed roles in the upcoming Disney’s ‘Mufasa;.

Mufasa is a prequel to Disney’s classic “The Lion King” that is scheduled to be seen on the big screens in December 2024. Theo Somolu and Folake Olowofoyeku, are the two Nigerian actors who will star in the prequel.

The film explores Simba’s father’s origin tale and is slated to open in theaters on December 20, 2024.

Olowofoyeku contributes a plethora of expertise to the undertaking from roles she played in the popular sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola (2019), Death Race 2050 (2017), Female Fight Club (2016), and the epic adventure 10,000 A.D.: The Legend of the Black Pearl (2008) etc.

Also, Somolu brings expertise from other endeavors, including Baggio: The Divine Ponytail (2021) and the children’s television series Mighty Express (2020).

The prequel will follow Mufasa’s journey from a defenseless cub to a valiant king by providing a thorough narrative of his early years.

The complex nature of their connection as well as the events that send Taka down a dark path will be explored in the film.

Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka — the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny — their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe,” according to Disney
