Game of Thrones an American fantasy drama series has received a lot of recognition around the world due to its powerful story arcs. Seven Kingdoms have their eyes on the iron throne or fighting to stay protected from the one sitting on the throne. The television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss is an HBO original.
The hidden danger or war that no one knows when it will happen is the coming of the white-walkers, which has become synonymous to the phrase; “winter is coming”. The well weaved television series can glue you to your sit for hours due to its unexpected plot twists.
Eddard Ned Stark, lord of Winterfell is called upon by the King, Robert Baratheon to serve as his hand. Lord Stark and King Robert could have become in-laws if not for the murder of Lord Stark’s sister. King Robert will trust no one than the Noble Stark to be his hand. At the capital, the death of the former hand of the King is lased with suspicions. Fingers are mostly pointed at the Lannister’s, wealthy and powerful family who have one of them as the queen.
Cersei Lannister is the wife to King Robert, but the little said about their marriage the better. As the new hand of the King, Ned Stark will not stop at nothing to protect the king and the kingdom. Ned Stark does not trust the Lannister’s, and Cersei will do anything to make sure her son Jeffery becomes the king.
As the problems in the capital brew, Khal Drogo the leader of the Dothraki has found himself a wife who will later become the mother of dragons. To lead the Dothraki, a fight to the death is a common practice. Khal Drogo is a very feared warrior who has never lost a battle. His confidence and braveness is next to none.
Despite enjoying the well crafted story plots, there are some deaths in the series that came as a shock to many audience. Frankly speaking, I stopped watching the series for more than a month as a result of such deaths.
One of such unforgettable deaths is that of the noble Eddard Ned Stark, the lord of Winterfell. Ned Stark in his pursuit to find the truth and to protect the king met his untimely death. As a man of honor, he will stop at nothing to pursue the truth, not at the price of his own life. Ned Stark was charged with treason, a crime he never committed. His death came as a shock and surprise to me, because it came at a time I least expected it.
The second death in the season of Game of Thrones that came as a shock to me is the death of Khal Drogo. It looked as if Khal Drogo had more to do in the story. Marrying the mother of the dragon and promising to deliver the iron throne to their unborn baby made his death unexpected. I thought even if he will die, he will do so in the battle field, not from a common cut.
A lot of people were killed, innocent and guilty alike. But the death of Eddard Ned Stark and Khal Drogo came as a shock to me.
