Ghanaians living in the UK have joined an increasing number of anti-galamsey demonstrations to show support for their fellow countrymen.

Their dedication to bringing attention to the damaging effects of illicit mining on Ghana’s environment and communities is demonstrated by this event.

The purpose of the protest, which was held in front of the Ghana High Commission in London, was to raise awareness of the urgent problem of galamsey.

They voiced concern about the harm that illicit mining operations were causing to the environment, which has been connected to detrimental effects on the local ecosystems and the way of life for a large number of Ghanaians.

Students, professionals, and community leaders were among the varied crowd of attendees drawn to the protest, who were all unified in their support for the cause.

This alliance draws attention to the pervasive worry Ghanaians have about the ongoing situation of illegal mining, both domestically and internationally.

Participants held placards featuring powerful messages such as “Blood, Gold, Greed!,” “Water No Bi Politics,” and “Stop Illegal Mining Now!”

These slogans underscore the urgent call for action against galamsey, emphasising the need for immediate measures to protect Ghana’s natural resources and promote sustainable practices.
