The Canadian actor in an interview with ‘Rolling Stone’ recounted the memories he shared with the Barbadian singer on set. Michael Cera recalled what brought about the slap and the reason he felt the slap should be real. When asked whether the rumors that Rihanna slapped him for real in the film were true, he said;
“… I thought it would look a lot better if she hit me. I don’t think it took much convincing to get her to do it. I just thought it would look a lot better than a fake slap would because you can really feel it. It just looks a lot funnier!”
Michael Cera also added that, he has no regrets. He confirmed that the cut in the movie is the actual slap, adding that aside the disorienting he felt in his ear, everything was fine.
“I definitely did not regret it! I was into it. The take that is in the movie, she really did hit my ear, which was disorienting. But I have no regrets. I didn’t lose any hearing over it, fortunately!“
Michael Cera has featured in several movies such as, Arrested Development, Molly’s Game, Gloria Bell and many more. He is obviously known for the awkward offbeat characters he plays in his movies.
