Rema breaks a 41-year-old record on US Billboard Albums chart.

Nigerian artist Rema has broken King Sunny Ade’s 41-year-old record as the Nigerian artiste with the longest-running album in the US Billboard 200 chart’s history.

Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye MFR, known professionally as King Sunny Adé, is a Nigerian jùjú singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Until now, he was the Nigerian artist with the longest-running album on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Chief Ade’s album ‘Juju Music’ held the record for being on the chart for 29 weeks. Making him the first Nigerian musician to achieve such heights. Chief is recognized as one of the top African pop musicians in history. The 76 years old artist has been regarded as one of the most influential musicians of all time.

The album that broke the record is Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses’ album which has been on the chart for 30 weeks. This week, the album sits at number 137.

The Billboard 200 is a record chart, ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by Billboard magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists.
