“No jobs for the youth. Cost of goods and services keep rising”: – D-Black on the state of the economy.

Musician and entrepreneur Desmond Kwesi Blackmore famously known as D-Black has commented on the state of the Ghanaian economy.

According to D-Black, the current state of the economy is the lowest he has ever seen. He lamented on the lack of jobs for the youth, as well as the challenges entrepreneurs are going through.

D-Black also noted, a lot of things in the country are moving in the wrong direction. From the depreciation of the cedi against the major trading currencies, to the rising costs of goods and services.

The Government of Ghana is currently on an IMF program to help revive the economy and bring things back to normal. Despite the presence of the IMF program, the cedi is on a free-fall, businesses are folding up, citizens are losing their jobs, among other challenges.

Aside the current power outages the country is experiencing, entrepreneurs have to deal with the fast depreciation of the cedi which is having a negative impact on their businesses.

The various trade unions as well as policy think tanks have called on the government to find immediate solutions to the depreciating cedi.

D-Black as an entrepreneur and a citizen has also added his voice to the numerous calls on the government to find solutions to the current predicament.

D-Black twitted: “This is the lowest I’ve ever seen the state of our country’s economy. No jobs for the youth. Entrepreneurs are going through it! Costs of goods and services keep rising. The Cedi keeps depreciating at an alarming rate. So much isn’t going well… The people are complaining.”
