According to the legend, his mother though a musician, she wasn’t happy when he choose music over school. This led to his arrest by the police. He made this revelation during an interview on Citi TV’s entertainment and lifestyle show “Upside Down.”
“My mother was a musician… but she didn’t want me to do music. She thought it was a waste of time…She reported me to the police, and they came to arrest me—forgetting that she was also a musician,” he said.
The “Sika Ye Mogya” singer will be celebrating 50 years of doing music with a concert at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, August 4, 2023. The musical concert titled ‘Pat Thomas Highlife Night’ promises to be one of Ghana’s biggest night of music.
Along side the legendary Pat Thomas, will be performances by another highlife legend Kojo Antwi, performances from Kwabena Kwabena, Kuami Eugene and many other sensational artists.
In the 1960s, Pat Thomas began his musical career by working with Ebo Taylor. He started the group “Sweet Beans” in 1974, and it was with them that he made his debut album, False lover.
With the band Marijata, he produced his second album, “Pat Thomas Introduces Marijata.” He moved to Berlin following the coup in Ghana in 1979 before settling in Canada.
