The cliffhanger ending of Fast X, left fans wondering what will happen to Vin’s character. We have seen a lot of dead characters return to life in this franchise, so it is obvious Vin will be leading the ensemble in the next chapter.
In 2021, Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as the rock, vowed not to return to the Fast and Furious franchise. Dwayne’s decision came after Vin’s public plea. Speaking to CNN, Dwayne said he was “surprised” to see Vin’s post after he had made his intentions clear to him privately.
“I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post. This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem.”
Dwayne Johnson officially confirmed his return to the franchise after Fast X ending credits scene saw Jason Momoa’s character calling Hobbs and telling him he is coming for him. This development was good news to the ears of the Fast and Furious fans, due to the role Hobbs plays in the movie.
In an Exclusive with ET, Vin Diesel commented on the return of Dwayne Johnson to the Fast and Furious franchise. He admitted that the return of Hobbs is necessary to tie up the storylines.
“It was no easy task, because so much has been created in this universe. To tie up all these storylines, this character needed to come back into the mythology.”
The Fast and Furious superstar also touched on the ending of Fast X and what happened to Dom Toretto and Little Brain. He said, for a movie to decide on such a cliffhanger ending, means the fans believed in what you do.
“When you end a movie with a cliffhanger of that magnitude, you only do that when you believe that your audience believes in you.”
Before fans see the amazing Dwayne Johnson’s character in Fast X: Part II, the actor will first appear in movie centered around the Hobbs character to bridge the gap between Fast X and Fast X: Part II.
