“If you are in love with someone, why do you sign a contract?” Yvonne Nelson talks about marriage.

Yvonne Nelson has been trending since the release of her book titled, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson”.

The trends has to do with the personalities captured in her book as much as what ensued between them. The award winning actress in her book touched on her relationship with rapper Sarkodie, Singer Iyanya and the man with whom she shares a daughter.

Yvonne Nelson has made a lot of revelations in her book that has set social media and the tradition media houses ablaze. A lot of personalities including her colleague actors have commended her for the good job done with the book.

Yvonne Nelson has dedicated a couple of chapters to talk about her relationship. She spoke about marriage, and how she sees marriage now. The ‘Princess Tyra’ star mentioned that, she “prefers a partnership to marriage”.

“After James, I lost the essence of falling in love and believing in a man. My worldview about marriage also changed afterwards, and I prefer a partnership to marriage. I believe in a partnership, having someone you want and not having to sign a contract.”

Yvonne Nelson also questioned the reason behind signing a marriage contract. She doesn’t see that to be love, rather an acknowledgement that the relationship will not work. She concluded by saying “it doesn’t make sense to sign a contract.”

“If you are in love with someone, why do you sign a contract? Signing that contract is like acknowledging that it won’t work and the marital contract cannot save it. You can sign a contract to be responsible for the kids and for other commitments, but you cannot sign a contract to love someone.”
