The American actress who has moved on to become a star thanks to her role in ‘The Hunger Games’ added she didn’t even get a callback after the auditions. Speaking to Bill Simmons on The Rewatchers Podcast, Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned that, she is glad she didn’t land the role of Bella Swan.
“My life would’ve been totally different, I mean, the work is still the same because I felt similar when I was doing Hunger Games. I have to churn out movies in between so that I’m not only known for this franchise. I was still in a franchise, so I was still trying to counteract the franchise-ness, and I would still be doing that if I was in Twilight.”
The ‘No Hard Feelings’ star admitted that she almost backed out of the Hunger Games project because she was concerned about the potential for a huge fan following. The Oscar winner said she attempted to explain to others why she was hesitant to join a well-known franchise, but they were unable to grasp what she was trying to express.
“It was so hard to explain to people, It was like I don’t think you understand this level of fame … I just assumed it was gonna be like Twilight, like the Twilight-level Fame, and that was just never something I had in mind.”
The Red Sparrow actress also added that, she “wanted to do Indies and good films” and not necessarily for the stardom that comes with it. The Twilight role would have made her “miserable” and she is glad it never happened.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a film by Lionsgate that is reviving The Hunger Games, is set several years before the occasions of the first movie. The movie follows District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) before he turns into the despotic president of Panem.
Although the prequel has a whole new cast, Lawrence recently stated that she wouldn’t rule out one day playing Katniss Everdeen.
