Owner of AnimaxFYB Studios, Francis Y. Brown has put Ghana on the map again with his iconic Ghanaian animated short film ‘Room 5’. ‘Room 5’ has been selected for the 2023 Essence Film Festival.
This acclaimed festival, organized and sponsored by ESSENCE Studios, honors African diaspora storytellers through original film, television, and new media screenings. Panel talks, seminars, celebrity events, and more will all take place at the festival, which is set to run from Friday, June 30, 2023, through to Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Francis Y. Brown’s ‘Room 5’ will be featured in the African Villa block, which emphasizes films from South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. There will be a variety of screenings, panel discussions, and informational seminars about co-distribution, finance in various regions, and production collaborations each day alongside stage readings, seminars, panel talks, a filmmakers lounge, and more.
AnimaxFYB Studios, a top animation studio in Ghana and West Africa, created the dark-comedic animated short film ‘Room 5’. Francis Y. Brown previously visited the Annecy International Animation Festival 2021 as an Official Selection for the short film category. He has a history of taking part in prominent film festivals.
At the LA International Short Film Festival in 2021, the New York International Short Film Festival in 2021, and the Animage International Animation Film Festival in 2021, the project was also an official selection for best animation.
Francis Y. Brown’s talent and inventiveness are honored by ‘Room 5”s selection for the Essence Film Festival, which also emphasizes the increasing importance of Ghanaian and West African animation on the international scene.
