It was a perfect place to spend your evening after a tiresome week of facing the hustles and bustles of life. Consider this a two hour travel into a world of relaxation, entertaining and refreshing experience.
The all ladies band ‘Lipstick Queens’ took the audience through exciting performances as they wait for the show to begin. They were well prepared, giving the audience one of the best life performance they have seen. The smiles and excitement on the faces of the audience as they enjoy the performances of the band says it all.
Now, the time everyone has been waiting for is finally here. Explosive noise and chants welcomed the MC of the night, Clemento Suarez. He is just a delight to watch. He could just hold the microphone without saying a joke but everyone laughs out loud. That is how infectious his presence is. As usual of him, he took the audience through some interesting jokes before introducing the first performer of the night.
First to open the night was, the Honorable Mikki Osei Berko who mounted the stage with resounding cheers from the audience. The veteran actor, cum comedian started the show with some electrifying performances. His jokes centered around ethnicity, history and politics. You can’t afford not to laugh at his jokes if you can actually relate to the issues he joked about. His delivery was intelligent and constructive.
MC Clemento Suarez will not allow Mikki to leave the stage without making him have a taste of his own medicine. Clemento said a couple of jokes making reference to Mikki, and the audience could not control their laughter. He then in a vivid description announced the next performer for the night, Afia Barcelona.
Afia Barcelona mounted the stage with a song from rapper Sarkodie. Instantly, the audience new where her jokes will be coming from, hence the laughter and cheers that welcomed her. From the issues surrounding Sarkodie and Yvnonne Nelson, to Dr. UN and Dr. Bawumia, she got the audience cheering. One cloud say, her performance did not receive the applause it deserved because, her energy was low.
Right after Afia Barcelona’s performance, the stage was once again set ablaze when Yaa Anima got on it. Her energy was super, her performance dope, her jokes intelligent, and her engagement on point. The audience literally laughed out their hearts from the beginning of her performance to the end. Her life centered jokes can easily be related and appreciated by the crowd. From the visa denials to her jokes on Indian movies, brought life to the auditorium. The audience were once again enjoying what they paid to see.
After the electrifying performance from Yaa Anima, anyone who comes next can’t afford to lower the energy in the auditorium. Probably, comedian Putogo had this in mind before mounting the stage. His performance met the standard set by Yaa Anima. His back to back jokes were straight forward, short, interesting, and the audience had a good laugh. A lady sitting by me could not hold her excitement. You could hear her laugh at the other corner of the auditorium. Putogo is exciting to watch and listen to.
The last performer was none other than the more experienced comedian OB Amponsah. He constructively and intelligently delivered his jokes one after the other keeping in mind the momentum. The audience cheered and laughed uncontrollably; the energy in the auditorium was turned on a notch higher. You could see experience and preparedness at work. He made good use of the audience in the delivery of his jokes. He made them feel part of the performance. It is a smart and wise move to let the audience feel like their are involved in the performance. The jokes were centered on the common things people do or come across in their daily lives. You could then understand why the whole auditorium was cheering him on.
I can’t emphasize the performance of the all ladies band ‘Lipstick Queens’ enough. Anytime they are given the opportunity, their performances were top notch. I will gladly pay to watch a musical concert organized by them. It is also in order to commend the efforts of Clemento Suarez as he kept the show alive as the MC.
