Come and lets discuss modalities of Dumsor vigil: Police invites Yvonne Nelson and co.

The Ghana Police Service has invited conveners of the Dumsor vigil to a meeting to discuss modalities ahead of time.

On May 9, 2024, the conveners led by actress Yvonne Nelson notified the Ghana Police through a letter addressed to the IGP. Reacting to the letter, The Ghana Police through Deputy Commissioner of Police and Accra Regional Commander, Arhin Kwesi Annor, has invited the conveners to a meeting.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kwesi Annor, the IGP has referred to May 9 letter to his command to handle.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on May 15, at 2:00pm.

Yvonne Nelson and the other conveners received a lot of pressure from the public to reignite the DumsorMustStop campaign due to the rampant power outages.

The actress in an open letter pleaded with Ghanaians and corporate institutions to join and assist her in carrying out a Dumsor vigil to protest the current power outages.

Yvonne Nelson with the support of other celebrities organized the first ever Dumsor vigil in 2015 when the country was experiencing power crisis.

The conveners in preparation towards the meeting have been asked to contact Staff Officer Supt. Mr. Isaac N. K. Yeboah for further details.
