Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, and other four Nigerian Filmmakers join Oscars Board.

Five big names in the Nigeria Film Industry have been selected to join the Academy Awards Board.

The Nigeria Film Industry popularly know as Nollywood is one of the largest film industries in the world. Nollywood releases about 2000 movies yearly, some of which are streaming on Netflix, and Showmax.

Richard Mofe-Damijo, director CJ Obasi, producer Jade Osiberu, and writers Kunle Afolayan and Shola Dada have been chosen to join the Oscars Board for their contributions to cinema. They will now have voting rights for Oscar nominations as members.

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit for the film industry. They are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership.
