According to the Association, they will further have engagements with Organized Labour, looking forward to them calling off the strike. The Association noted that the strike will bring serious implications to business owners.
Speaking to Daniel Opoku a labour correspondent for 3news, the CEO of Ghana Employers Association Alex Frimpong pleaded with Organized Labour to call off the strike and make use of dialogue.
“We are working with them to see how we can resolve this matter. Look, there are so many means of resolving this matter. So, let’s see the measures that will be put in place,” he said.
“If at the end of the day these measures can address the galamsey issue, I think we are in full support. Already, businesses are suffering so to have the nation come to a standstill will have dire economic and businesses consequences on all of us”
“So, we will really want to engage Organized Labour and draw attention to the consequences and collectively we can sit down and resolve the problem.”
“We are still appealing to organized labour to review the situation and work together with us because when they embark on a nationwide industrial action, it will have very very expensive cost on businesses. I do not have the figure off hand, but I can assure you that it will be running into millions and billions, Organized Labour must dialogue,” Mr. Frimpong said.
