“My plan is to establish special agro-industrial processing zones in all sixteen regions”: John Mahama

In order to assist farmers, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to create agro-industrial processing zones throughout Ghana’s 16 regions if elected president on December 7.

The former president stated that in order to construct the processing factories, the incoming NDC government would collaborate with the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, John Mahama said, this “strategic move” would allow Ghanaians to progressively lessen their reliance on the import of raw materials in addition to creating new job possibilities.

The NDC leader emphasized that he would keep his word to establish regional processing zones as proof of his dedication to helping small company owners.

“My plan is to establish special agro-industrial processing zones in all sixteen regions and, in collaboration with the Ghana EXIM Bank, enhance the value of the crops for which they have a comparative advantage.

“This strategic move will not only open new job opportunities but also enable us to gradually reduce our dependence on the import of strategic products currently imported as raw materials.”

“I am passionate about creating a thriving agricultural sector and am committed to delivering on my promises to support small businesses and farmers across the country.”

“Agriculture and agro-processing are a priority for me, and empowering farmers and supporting agro-industrial processing will significantly impact our economy”, John Mahama said.
