Music producer Appietus has acknowledged the contributions of Reggie Rockstone to the Hiplife genre in Ghana music.

The debate over who is the originator of hiplife has been going on for years. According to Appietus, Reggie Rockstone “is undeniably the originator of Hiplife.”

Regarding the subject of “Ghana’s Music Identity,” Appietus stressed in a recent Channel One TV interview that Reggie Rockstone need to be acknowledged and given credit for his innovative work in the early 1990s.

He said that Rockstone’s foresight and inventiveness created the groundwork for a new generation of Ghanaian musicians that are now mainstays in the nation’s entertainment sector.

Appietus stated. “He brought a unique fusion of highlife and hip-hop that resonated with the youth and created a whole new musical movement. Without Reggie’s groundbreaking work, Hiplife as we know it today wouldn’t exist.”

Appietus also mentioned that Reggie Rockstone “didn’t just create a genre; he gave young Ghanaians a voice and a way to express themselves. He made it cool to embrace our heritage while staying relevant in the global music scene”.
