Trailer of Disney’s Moana 2 sets a new record.

After its release this week, the trailer for the highly anticipated sequel of Moana broke a ton of previous records for Disney.

Disney has recently disclosed that in the day following its release, the video has amassed 178 million views, making it the company’s greatest animated trailer debut ever.

That surpasses the 157 million of Inside Out 2, the 116 million of Frozen 2, and the 113 million of Incredibles 2.

Given that the 2016 original film was also the most streamed film on all of Disney’s platforms in 2017, there appears to be a lot of anticipation for the sequel.

The story of ‘Moana 2’ will follow the title character as she sets out on a fresh trip into long-lost waters with a group of strange allies.

The synopsis reads; “After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

Originally slated to be a TV series, Disney said earlier this year that the concept had been reworked into a movie after making an impression on executives.

Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as Maui, and the film’s original star Auli’i Cravalho will return as the title character.

While Moana is available for streaming on Disney+, Moana 2 opens in US theaters on November 27 and in UK theaters on November 29.
