Kanayo O. Kanayo and other stakeholders are not happy about the ban on glamourizing crime in Nigerian Films.

Kanayo O. Kanayo and other stakeholders are concerned about the effect the ban on smoking and other vices will have on the Nigerian Film Industry.

The National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB) announced at a stakeholder engagement program that the Government of Nigerian has approved a legislation to prohibit glamourizing crime in films.

Kanayo O. Kanayo referred to the decision to prohibit the glamourizing of crime in Nigerian Films as “arrant nonsense”. He asked Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy to focus on other important issues with the economy.

Also, Mike Okri, a musician thinks the decision will not do any good to the film industry. He thinks, the decision will rather prevent the film industry from thriving.

Mike Okri said; “whoever is behind this from the FG is joking. It’s a way to silence the movie industry. They should focus on the real challenges facing the country”.

During the stakeholders engagement program, Dr. Shaibu Husseini said; ““Today, I am delighted to announce to you that the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, pursuant to section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004 has approved the regulation.
