These four movies featuring multiple award-winning actor Majid Michel will certainly take you on a nostalgic ride.

Majid Michel is a Ghanaian actor, model, television personality, preacher, and humanitarian. In 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2017, he was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. After receiving three consecutive nominations, he eventually took home the prize in 2012.

His on-set moniker “Shaker” came from his appearances in the television series Things We Do for Love. He was supposed to be played by a Lebanese youngster in Things We Do for Love, and Michel believes that his Lebanese ancestry is why he got the part.

Since ‘things we do for love’, Majid Michel has appeared in several movies both in Ghana and Nigeria. The Movie Train brings to you four of his movies that will take you on a nostalgic journey.

1. Somewhere in Africa

Somewhere in Africa: The Cries of humanity is a 2011 Ghanaian Nigerian drama film directed by Frank Rajah Arase, starring Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah and Kofi Adjorlolo. It received 7 nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards including categories: Best Actor in a Leading Role, Achievement in Soundtrack, Achievement in Visual effects and Achievement in Make-Up.

Majid Michel played the role of General Yusuf Mombasa and the role of Rev. Francis Jackson which he executed to perfection. His performance earned him the only award at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards from the 7 nominations the film had.

General Mombasa is a Military officer who staged a coup to overdraw the sitting president. He executed all the high profile government officials and made the lives of his people miserable.

2. 4 Play

4 Play is a 2010 Nigerian Ghanaian romantic blue comedy film directed by Frank Rajah Arase, starring Majid MichelYvonne OkoroJohn DumeloJackie Appiah, Roselyn Ngissah and Juliet Ibrahim. The film is followed by a sequel titled 4Play Reloaded, released in 2011. It received 3 nominations at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards and eventually won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Majid Michel played Alvin in ‘4 play’. Alvin is not a one woman type, he approaches any woman that comes his way. Though married to Angie (played by Roselyn Ngissah) Alvin moves from one woman to the other. He ended on the couch of a gay friend who tried to seduce him.

3. Pool Party

Pool Party is a 2011 film directed by Frank Rajah Arase starring, Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Ekow Blankson as well as other talented actors. The film depicts murder and betrayal when a man learns that his brother has become his wife’s lover. 

On one hand, Yvonne Nelson’s character Audrey thought her husband was crippled. Actually, he was just unhappy because he learned she had been having an affair. In exchange for her helping him take his life, he promised her a sizable insurance settlement. This was fantastic news for Audrey, who initially pretended to object but ultimately complied with her husband’s request.

And on the other hand, Scott (Majid Michel) and his team were on the hunt for blood in a different scenario. Both a doctor and his young daughter were kidnapped. Conflict arose when the kidnapper was unsure of what to do when the young child suffered an asthma attack.

4. Things we do for love

Things We Do for Love is about youths and their lives at school and home, with their parents getting in their way. Pusher (Adjetey Anang) is in a relationship with Dede, but has other girlfriends.

Shaker (Majid Michel) plays a Lebanese working in a hotel and a womanizer who could make a lady “melt” with his sweet words. His personality leads him into embarrassing incidents.

‘Things we do for love’, serves as the starting point for Majid Michel. He played the role of Shaker, the rich Lebanese lover boy who can charm any lady with his looks.
